DuPont Wins Four 2022 Edison Awards DuPont Takes Home Four Edison Awards in 2022, Showcasing Innovative Technologies. DuPont (NYSE:DD) is pleased to announce that four of its groundbreaking technologies have been awarded the prestigious Edison Award for 2022. DuPont received three Gold and one Silver award in several categories, chosen from hundreds of nominees. Since 1987, the Edison Awards, named after Thomas Alva Edison, have recognized and honored some of the world's most innovative new products, services, and business leaders. "We're honored that four breakthrough innovations have been recognized with prestigious Edison awards," said Alexa Dembek, DuPont Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer. "This acknowledgment, selected by peers in the business and science community, exemplifies the spirit of sustainable innovation at DuPont, and reminds us of the impact we can achieve through customer collaboration to bring cutting-edge technologies to market." Gold – In the Eco-Innovation category, FilmTecTM Dry Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) membranes received a Gold award. Seawater Reverse Osmosis membranes have traditionally lacked stability in the dry state, necessitating both a wet test and a chemical storage solution to ensure performance. The breakthrough is a dry-stable membrane technology that has a lower environmental impact due to reduced water consumption, shipping weight, and chemical disposal. FilmTecTM provides high NaCl and boron rejection over the operating lifetime, helping to meet World Health Organization (WHO) and other drinking water standards. DuPont Wins Four 2022 Edison Awards Gold – In the Thermodynamics category, BETATECHTM thermal interface materials received a Gold award. The BETATECHTM thermal interface material (TIM) is a new solution for controlling heat in electric vehicle batteries. In order to achieve high performance in EV batteries, efficient thermal management is essential. Thermal management is crucial for EVs to achieve longer range between charges, as well as improving overall safety and NVH performance. BETATECHTM TIM, which is already used by a number of global OEMs, helps maintain optimal battery temperatures during charging and operation, extending vehicle range and improving vehicle safety by reducing the risk of thermal runaway. Gold – In the Polymers and Emulsion category, Delrin® Renewable Attributed acetal homopolymer received a Gold award. Delrin® Renewable Attributed allows for environmentally friendly design, high conversion efficiency, and a lower total carbon footprint. It's the first commercially available acetal homopolymer with a top-notch environmental profile. When compared to fossil-based Delrin®, the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of Delrin® Renewable Attributed products is reduced by up to 75%. Municipal waste is converted to steam as a source of heat for the manufacturing process, wind energy is used to generate renewable electricity to power the facility, and bio-feedstock from secondary waste is converted to bio-methanol for the Delrin® Renewable Attributed base polymer. Silver – The Low-GWP Revolution In the Building Materials category, Froth-PakTM Spray Foam received a Silver award. When compared to blowing agents used in previous formulations, Froth-PakTM Spray Foam achieves a reduction in global warming potential (GWP) of over 99 percent, demonstrating DuPont's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Froth-PakTM is a complete low-pressure spray foam kit that is self-contained and portable for professional contractors. While improving performance, this polyurethane spray foam contains no ozone-depleting chemicals or HFCs. It enables professional contractors to fill larger gaps and penetrations in both commercial and residential applications quickly and efficiently, sealing out moisture, dust, allergens, and pests while improving energy efficiency, building resilience, and homeowner comfort.
