Lyondellbasell Secures Advanced Recycled Feedstock with Nexus Circular
Today, LyondellBasell and Nexus Circular revealed that they had signed a firm, long-term agreement under which Nexus Circular will deliver about 24,000 tons of recycled feedstock to LyondellBasell every year.
The material will be produced at Nexus Circular's new advanced recycling facility, which will begin construction in 2023. The new facility will recycle mixed plastic waste, which currently primarily goes to landfills or incineration. At its facility in Channelview, Texas, LyondellBasell will use the recycled feedstock to create new plastics that will be sold under the CirculenRevive brand.

"Customers and brand owners need sustainable solutions to meet their 2030 recycling commitments, and this contract is a concrete step toward advancing partnerships across the value chain," said Yvonne van der Laan, LyondellBasell Executive Vice President, Circular and Low Carbon Solutions. "This agreement is aligned with our circularity ambitions, advancing us closer to our 2030 goal."

This technology transforms landfill-bound films and other difficult-to-recycle plastics into premium liquids that are then used to create virgin-quality plastics.

Since 2018, Nexus has consistently provided commercial volumes of circular liquid products that are ISCC Plus certified. As a result, more than 8 million pounds of waste plastic have been kept out of landfills.
