Advanced Design and Development Center in Germany
Carbon and the Institute of Polymer Technology (LKT) at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) are pleased to announce the launch of their joint Advanced Design and Development center in Bavaria.
This collaborative endeavor aims to leverage the innovation and expertise of both organizations, providing enhanced support for Carbon's Production Network and important European clients in various sectors, including consumer goods, automotive, industrial, medical, and oral health.
The Advanced Design and Development Center will showcase all of Carbon's latest manufacturing technologies and their award-winning materials.
This unique partnership arises from LKT's commitment to industry cooperation and Carbon's dedication to enabling the production of groundbreaking products through top-notch design and manufacturing technology, combined with expert application development capabilities.
Apart from serving the industry, the Carbon and LKT partnership will also foster and support a wide range of pioneering research opportunities in additive manufacturing and materials development.
"We are thrilled to offer the European market, where many of the world's finest products are designed and manufactured, an opportunity to experience Carbon's tools and processes firsthand," stated Phil DeSimone, Office of the CEOs at Carbon. "This center will facilitate swift collaboration with Carbon customers in the region, as well as introduce new tools and technologies for the future of product development."

The newly established center will serve as a hub for Carbon's European clients and prospects to witness the development of their products and the Carbon processes in action, significantly reducing turnaround times for regional customers. Additionally, the center will function as a research and development hub.
Carbon and LKT will closely collaborate with PhD students on novel research and development initiatives, offering an expanded workspace to explore innovative applications and advancements in platform processes, ranging from material developments to recycling capabilities.
LKT and FAU possess exceptional expertise in additive manufacturing through fundamental and industry-oriented research projects spanning from polymer chemistry to polymer engineering. "The new joint center with Carbon will provide students with an ideal learning, working, and research platform at the highest technological level.
We are eager to further strengthen our research profile in fluid-based additive manufacturing," remarked Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dietmar Drummer, Head of the Institute of Polymer Technology. "We are excited to embark on this new chapter of collaboration, propelling the future of advanced design and development."
