Turkey Ranks Second in Flexible Foam Production EUROPUR, the European Association of Flexible Polyurethane Foam Blocks Manufacturers, has presented complete data on the European flexible polyurethane foam market to its members at its conference in Budapest and shared a short summary. According to EUROPUR, 1.35 million tonnes of flexible polyurethane slabstock foam were produced overall in 2022, a decline of about 8.5% from 2021, which was a record production year. As a result of weakening demand, high raw material prices and supply shortages, production decreased in all regions of Europe, except for Turkey which registered an increase of a bit over 8%. Flexible Foam Production In the European Union (+UK, Switzerland and Norway) production decreased by approximately 10.5%. Poland continues to produce the most flexible foam, closely followed by Turkey, which could overtake Poland this year. Third region of production is now Iberia, which for the first time produced more than the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). Due to expected further weakening demand from the main markets for flexible PU foam (upholstered furniture and bedding), 2023 is predicted to be an even more difficult year. Source
