We had an interview with Sistem Teknik Machinery General Manager Mr. Oğuz Şahin. Şahin gave information about Sistem Teknik Machinery and its brand Electron.
Could you please briefly tell us about your educational and professional background?
First of all, I would like to let you know that I am very glad to do this interview on behalf of our company. I was born in 1967 in Düzce province. After completing my primary, secondary and high school education in Istanbul, I graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Yıldız Technical University at 1990.
I worked as a machine and workshop manager in various countries for 2 years abroad. In 1993, after completing my military service, I shifted to electrostatic powder coating systems industry and had worked as a professional in this industry for 5 years.
In 1998, we established Sistem Teknik Makine Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş with our current partners. Our company, which we began with 10 people, now with 150 employees, has successfully transformed our brand Electron as a world class brand.
Could you please give information about Sistem Teknik Machinery’s history and milestones? What’s the current structure of Sistem Teknik Machinery today?
With its 150 personnel, its advanced technology, team and quality, Sistem Teknik Makine is an exemplary company which is shown as one of the leading companies of the industry, both in domestic and foreign markets. With 100% Turkish capital, Sistem Teknik Makine was established in 1998 in Istanbul.
Our company, which stands out with activity in domestic market, has also opened to abroad with its quality, trust and innovative policy. In order to increase our current capacity and consolidate our position in industry, we have established our new factory in Izmir in 2008, with a closed area of 8.500 m².
We are currently exporting to more than 50 countries all over the world including China, Italy, Russia, Germany and South Africa. Not only in Turkey, Sistem Teknik now, is known as one of the world’s largest powder coating equipment and a complete powder coating plant manufacturer.
In order to rise our Electron brand to the world brand standards, we’ve been working with our innovative team which is always open to learning. 70% of the countries that we are exporting, we had made dealership agreements.
These dealers sell this our own Turkish brand - Electron in their own countries. In the coming years, with also adding our exports we aim to increase these rates by at least 20%.
To which industries and with what kind of products does Sistem Teknik Machinery mainly serve? Could you please give information about Sistem Teknik Machinery’s products, brands and services?
Under the name of Electron brand, Sistem Teknik Machinery produces powder paint spraying devices, complete powder coating systems, all kinds of spare parts and components of these plants and devices.
Products we have produced can be sold to all industries including metal, aluminum and similar. For example, from a refrigerator manufacturer to a watch manufacturer or from a fire extinguisher manufacturer to a car wheel manufacturer, all sectors using aluminum and/or equivalent materials, are amongst our customers and potential markets. In other words, we can say that we provide products and services to almost all manufacturing industries.
As Sistem Teknik Machinery, we can design, modify and develop our products according to the target country and market requirements.
One of the biggest advantages of our company is the ability to react quickly to requests, problems or demands and to provide solutions. These abilities provide customer satisfaction while reinforcing brand trust.
Could you please tell about your domestic and international sales activities? To which regions and what kind of products does Sistem Teknik Machinery mainly sell?
I want to continue by stating our domestic and international sales rates. Approximately 30% of our sales are domestic and 70% abroad. In these ratios, I would like to state that the share of abroad in recent years has gradually changed.
As a complement to our successful sales policy, we can point out the impact of our advertising activities and brand management. Combining these elements with quality, I can say that we have begun to take the place of the well-known companies in the global market and have succeeded in getting ahead.
We consider regions as countries and think of each country as a potential field of work. With our constantly developing product portfolio, we sell to a large part of Africa, Asia, Europe and Middle East regions, especially in China, South Africa, Italy, Germany, Arabia and Qatar. We have recently set the South American region as a target market. in recent years,
In China, which is a very important market, we have started to become more active than global manufacturing giants and this strengthens our hand in other markets as well. To be preferred, we set trust, quality and technology as the cornerstone of our brand and we continue in this motto.
Could you please give information about Sistem Teknik Machinery’s innovation and R&D studies? Do you have any projects that were developed in the context of university - industry cooperation?
In order to be a leading technology company, we see R&D as the most important tool in all our decisions and strategic business activities. In order to pursue or pioneer the technology that is constantly evolving, it is our priority to develop our R&D facilities and continuously invest in R&D projects, and to keep our team in continuous development.
We are in cooperation with institutes, universities, master’s and doctoral programs and think-tank organizations to strengthen our R&D activities and to guide the future technology. we have developed with TUBITAK projects in the area of the powder coating equipment.
Designing smart plastic cabin and cyclone-filter group continues in the scope of KOSGEB supports. System Teknik Machinery, which is based on quality and development, has taken steps to become the center of attraction of R&D center and sector in order not to follow the technology, but to constitute technology.
Our new product, which can be specified as a pumped powder coating device that we can only produce in the near term as the pioneer of the sector and which we have started to sell, is the indication that we have set the world standards.
Can you give information about Sistem Teknik Machinery’s environmental policy and sustainability approach? What kind of works and studies are performed in the area of worker health and safety?
Our first priority is human health and environmental safety. In all of our investments and manufacturing, we adopt this foundation and manufacture facilities and equipment based on European standards and criteria.
The health and safety of each of our employees is our responsibility, and it is our obligation to raise the awareness of the personnel employed in the use of the facilities and devices that we produce. In this respect, within our own structure we have a department that focuses only in this area.
Our energy management approach is; maximum efficiency with minimum energy consumption and we produce our products in this direction - balancing energy resources.
We have a sense of responsibility to the environment and we respect our planet. In this context, our enterprises are regularly audited and certified in the scope of ISO.
What are the priority criteria of Sistem Teknik Machinery when creating investment plans? Does Sistem Teknik Machinery have any investment plans in near and far future?
Our priority investments start with the slogan of “qualified human qualified business”. In the age of technology, where time is important and the speed of access to information is the determining factor.
Our qualified personnel structure, as a technology producing group, enables us to detect errors and deficiencies quickly, to react rapidly, to solve negative factors and to obtain quality. Our investments starting with human, continue with the continuous renewal of our production equipment.
In future, our investments, which started with personnel and equipment as I mentioned, will continue in sales and marketing. Our goal is to increase our sales centers. Our investments in the name of globalization will continue to increase.
