RetortPouch Recyclable from Mondi
Mondi has spent more than two years researching and testing this product to ensure that it meets a number of critical application requirements. As part of Mondi's MAP2030 commitments, the launch of RetortPouch Recyclable is another step toward the company's aim of making all of its products reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025.
With the introduction of RetortPouch Recyclable, Mondi, a global pioneer in packaging and paper, has expanded its portfolio of environmentally friendly premium food and pet food packaging options.
For a variety of food and wet pet food products, the new high-barrier pouch will replace complex multi-layer and non-recyclable packaging. Retort packaging is required for moist or semi-moist foods that are heat-treated in steam or hot water retort vessels to achieve commercial sterility for shelf-stable goods.

During the retort process, a new high-barrier film has been employed to replace the aluminum that is generally used in most solutions. This film keeps temperatures high and processing times short. The innovative mono-material retort packaging is 100% recyclable, providing a solution that preserves the product, has a long shelf life for a mono-material solution, and eliminates food waste.
Mondi has spent over two years researching and testing this product to ensure that several important application needs can be met. The launch of RetortPouch Recyclable is another step towards Mondi’s goal of ensuring that all of its products are reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025 as part of its MAP2030 commitments.
