Foam is entrapped gas in liquid. When liquids are agitated, boiled, fermented or poured, surface tensions drop down and air enters into liquid and forms bubbles. These gas bubbles are trapped in liquid and called foam.
Foam in Production Causes:
• Difficult dispersion,
• Higher production cost,
• Surface defects,
• Decrease production capacity.
To prevent such issues, various foam controlling agents are used.

Defoamers and Antifoamers,

Defoamers are divided into two categories according to their function.

• Anti-foamers: prevent foam formation.
