New Significant Projects from COIM Group
COIM Group is an Italian multinational company founded in 1962, currently with 5 production plants and 20 locations on 4 different continents, operating globally in the production of polyester polyols, polyurethanes and resins for the formulation of composite materials and coatings to fill a wide range of applications and enhance the daily life of many end users.
In this particular period COIM has pleasure in sharing some new projects developed by its research and development laboratories.
The first project is related to the world of bio-based in the footwear market. It is a bio TPU (Laripur RS) made by 3 main components:
• Polyester polyols (100% bio),
• Chain extenders (100% bio) and
• Isocyanate (at the moment fossil-based).
Reacting these 3 components in the correct ratio, Coim is able to generate bio-TPU with high level of renewable raw materials content.
The second project is related to 2 products, which are coded with the RBL short code, the meaning of “Rubber Like” in English. Both products are based on polyester polyols.
Aplications;
• Midsole in safety shoe systems,
• Outer soles of sports shoes,
• Outer soles of casual shoes with high performance.
Advantages and performances of RBL products;
• These products have a much lower density compared to standard products used in the market.
• Saving approximately 20% of product consumption.
• While standard products can be used between 0,50 g/cc - 0,55 g/cc, RBL products can easily be operated between 0,42 g/cc - 0,45 g/cc.
• They have a very good hydrolysis resistance.
• Giving excellent performance especially in very cold climate conditions.
• Providing excellent mechanical properties at -20 degrees.
• Excellent “slip resistance” both on wet and dry ground compared to standard products.
• Due to their high elasticity and high energy, rebound performances are 75% better than standard products (shown in graphic).
• Can be coupled with PU/TPU/RUBBER outsole.
