Low Moisture Filler for Reactive Adhesives & Sealants, Omyabond® 525
Omyabond 525 is a fine white calcium carbonate powder, surface treated and especially developed to ensure outstanding low moisture pick-up and excellent dispersion.
Polyurethane, silicone, silylated modified polymers, silane- terminated polyurethanes and MS polymers can be used to formulate moisture-curing reactive adhesives and sealants. They are highly reactive and typically show a high rheological and mechanical profile.
The most critical issue in these systems is proper control of moisture content during
manufacture and storage so that curing can begin after application.
A mineral filler such as Calcium Carbonate is the main component of such moisture-
curing reactive formulations, with typical filler levels of up to 55 - 60%. In practical terms, even though the moisture content of a filler appears to be low in percentage in the technical data sheet, the filler can still introduce a large amount of water into the system and this water may need to be reduced later on according to actual requirements.
Omya’s low moisture calcium carbonate product Omyabond 525 is specially designed for low humidity and low dehumidification properties and can be used safely in such reactive systems.
