  Mineral oil based defoamers are preferred by waterbased paint manufacturers because of their low cost and low risk of causing surface defects compared to other types. 100% solid mineral oil defoamers emulsify when they met the water in the paint production tank. Droplet size of the defoamer after emulsification determines effectiveness of defoaming. Defoamer manufacturers optimize droplet size by selecting the nature of mineral oil, emulsifiers, hydrophobic solid content etc. in the formula. However, they can’t interfere wetting agents, binders (contains emulsifiers), thickeners, PVC, stirring rate etc. that paint manufacturer prefers. These parameters also affect the droplet size and cannot be decided by defoamer manufacturer. This situation may cause the defoamer to emulsify to a droplet size distribution that is far from the optimum distribution in some cases which means lower effectiveness. As “DYK Kimyevi Ltd. Şti” we designed BG 0087 to overcome unwanted droplet size distribution problem. BG 0087 is a pre-emulsified defoamer which means mineral oil based active is already emulsified at the optimum droplet size distribution. Because of its stable nature this distribution does not change when defoamer is introduced to the paint production medium. Contrary to common belief about pre-emulsified defoamers BG 0087 shows no separation during storage.                                                                                                   Figure 1. Application

Styrene acrylic, styrene butadiene, vinyl acrylic, pure acrylic, polyvinyl acetate, synthetic latex, water-based alkyd resin and other water-based binders. Paints and coatings formed by mentioned binders. Pastes and putties. Acrylic and silicate plasters. Water based adhesives.

Properties and Dosage

BG 0087 does not cause surface defects. No phase separation occurs during storage. Foam out defoamers maintain its properties inside final product and continue to prevent foam during application. Other additives do not affect performance of our defoamers. Defoaming and antifoaming continues in elevated temperatures and a broad range of pH. Dosage is recommended as 0,1-0,3% of final product.
