AURA-Focus lecture series in cooperation with firm Reynaers Aluminum Turkey began a new series of events on the facade technologies, which bring architects and designers, construction products and manufacturers.
The series has started with the discussion about the development of the facade as a structural element under historical perspective. Series will be examined by the experts with all aspects from architectural design process to application techniques, from architectural solutions in different geographies to energy producing technologies.
The first one of the conference series, consisting of three conferences, was held in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, hosting Faculty Member, Prof. PhD. Mustafa Özgünler “Interface in Structure: Façade” on December 19.
The sector representatives, such as architects, facade consultants, building industry professionals, academics and students showed great interest in the event, which was open to everyone’s participation and free of charge.
The examination of the facade in the conference focused on the struggle of man with nature:
Since the primitive ages, the facade existed as a sheltered shell between the outside and the body. This
shell has been updated as a form of human development.
In order to examine the relationship with the shell, a similarity relationship was established between the developmental forms of the shelter of primitive people and the nest made by animals.
Images and construction techniques of geometric form of hives built by the bees, nests of termites which are built are stacked on top of the earth, and nests built by the otters were presented.
Today, natural factors that determine the façade; light through openings and closures, the density of layers on rough construction - heat, disasters that we need to protect, example, fire and facades, are developed by considering these dynamic elements.
The conference was ended by pointing out that we are in a course that the façades of the future will reach the dynamism that can respond simultaneously to the warnings of the environment.
