Certification Progress of Explosion Proof Equipment for Process Safety Purposes
  • 27.04.2022
Flammable and explosive gases and dusts are used in many industrial sectors to ensure production continuity. It is a legal obligation for businesses that use explosive gases and dusts to make a ZONE (hazardous area) classification within the scope of the ATEX 153 Regulation (Safety and health protection of workers potentially at risk from explosive atmospheres). All equipment within the ZONE (hazardous area) resulting from the ZONE classification made must be explosionproof, certified according to the 2014/34/EU Regulation. The certification process of the explosion-proof equipment depends on group/category definition of the equipment, the relevant protection type standard, and its intended use.
