Across the globe, 60% of women and 40% of men claim to have sensitive scalp, with common symptoms like dryness, itching and erythema. In Brazil women use 3x as many post treatment products as American women, in order to repair damage. Chinese consumers also believe that the health of their scalp is the most important reason for groomed hair. Our hair is daily exposed to different environmental factors that can cause to hair damage, like UV rays and pollution. In addition harsh styling treatments like straightening or bleaching will lead to hair damage and irritation of the scalp. Hair damage repair is among the top attributes for haircare consumers. As a result we offer you a multifunctional active, Hairflux® with the potential to calm the scalp and repair damaged hair. As you can see in Table 1. Hairflux ® contains ceramides and various oils which are known to have calming and anti-inflammatory skin but also hair repair effect.

Application of Ceramides and Oils on Hair and Scalp

Hairflux®, the state-of-the-art product of ceramide engineering research for more than 20 years, combines the power of olives and ceramides. Ceramides exist in hair and skin, as part of skin barrier and hair cell membrane complex (CMC) in Figure 1 and Figure 2. Build together with other polar lipids a sort of kit between the hair cells. Part of essential healthy diets, olives are the powerhouse for skin and hair offering multiple benefits such as skin soothing and hair repairing.

The cell membrane complex and scalp barrier will be refilled with lacking Ceramides. Cohesion of hair cells will be improved. Hair fractures will be repaired by reducing the amount of protein that can be lost as a result of chemical degradation such as hair straightening. With a robust cell membrane complex and reduced water absorption, the hair will be more hydrophobic to prevent swelling of the hair.
