We had an interview with Euro Istanbul Founder and General Manager Mr. Necip Polat. Polat gave information about products and services offered by Euro Istanbul.

Could you please briefly tell us about your educational and professional background?

I entered the sector in 1974 with Gür Galvano Kimya. I have sold the chemicals used in the electrolytic coating plants in this company which has been operating until 2008. During 34 years period, I had wide knowledge about electrolytic coating processes while supplying chemicals to the sector. The foundations of Euro Istanbul were laid by this knowledge that I gained from Gür Galvano Kimya. Could you please give information about Euro Istanbul’s history and milestones? I established Euro Istanbul in 2002 to manufacture electroplating coating plants when Gür Galvano Kimya continues its activities. The company carries out manufacturing and installation of turnkey fully automatic and manual coating plants. The company has improved its technical staff and machinery lines in accordance with the requirements of the developing and changing times. With the purpose of fulfilling domestic and foreign demands in the best way possible, the company has been conducting his activities in its Beylikdüzü factory, which has 5.000 m2 closed area, and located at İstanbul, Beylikdüzü Mermerciler Sanayi Sitesi since May 2013. Specialized in project planning, designing and manufacturing of automatic and manual facilities, our company has become a trusted brand in manufacturing surface finishing accessories as well. Our company, supported by its ever-growing market share, increases its activities in foreign markets day by day for produce high quality turnkey fully automatic and manual coating plants and installation according to international standards .

To which industries and with what kind of products does Euro Istanbul mainly serve? Could you please give information about Euro Istanbul’s products, brands and services?

Our company manufactures and installs manual coating plants and installation as well as automatic coating plants such as suspension and barrel. Although it is a very wide range, I can count the facilities that we manufacture and install Zinc Plating Plants, Nickel Chrome Plating Plants, ABS Plating Plants, Anodizing and Hard Anodizing Plants. We manufacture fully automatic drying, passivation and lacquering lines of speed and temperature adjustable centrifugal dryers for both quick and economical drying of plated materials and for serial production and tonnage purposes. We also manufacture various products used in electrolytic coating plants such as disc and cartridge filters for filtering the plating chemicals, PP and PVC fans in order to remove coating chemicals and gases from the working environment, scrubbers and mist eliminators that are used for removing gases produced as a result of the activities of industrial facilities away from working environment and cleaning such gases before exhausting into the atmosphere. In addition, all kinds of baths are manufactured from Titan to PVDF for electrolytic coating processes in our company. The company also manufactures all bath accessories such as blower, educator etc.

Could you please tell about your domestic and international sales activities? To which regions and what kind of products does Euro Istanbul mainly sell?

In 2005, we started to expand abroad with the first full automatic coating line manufacturing and nowadays, overseas sales capacity exceeded the domestic sales. We manufacture and install coating plants in compliance with high quality and international standards to many countries especially Europe, Asia and Middle East countries. France, Romania, Slovenia, Greece, Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Israel, Egypt, Lebanon are the first countries which ı remember right now that we make exports to. At present, our factory is producing Full Automatic Acid Zinc Coating Plant and Full Automatic Nickel Chrome Plating Plant for Bosnia and Herzegovina. We plan to install one of the plants in April and the other in May in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will install in Lebanon on February the manual silver and gold plating line that has been produced in 2018. We expect the completion of the factory building in Russia for the installation of the 4 Full Automatic Coating Plants, which we produced in 2018. We have dealers in Slovenia, Greece, Russia, Egypt and Israel. In the future, we aim to further increase our number of dealers and increase our export and production capacity in parallel.

Can we learn your opinions on innovation and R&D? What are popular technologies in industry?

Our goal is to see our company in the top of the list of preferred coating plant manufacturers in terms of technology and quality. Therefore, we attach great importance to innovation and we know the value of innovation. The most important feature that distinguishes our sector from other sectors is that we are producing out of mass production. We see ourselves as a tailor who sew clothes according to customers. We produce the plants according to our customer business, the capacity expectancy from the plants, the area where the plant is to be installed, and the plant that we made is definitely different than the other one. Therefore, even this is a driving force for our R&D activities. We also make R&D investments in terms of both qualified personnel and necessary equipment in order to develop our technology and product range. We have begun to collect the benefit of our R&D investments in recent years. In 2017, we installed our first automatic vibratory load & unload station in Izmir. This station, which was formed as a result of approximately one year of R&D work, is unlocked to screw before it go to plating line. Firstly, screws have been bring to vibration vessel by elevator bucket. After that locked screws are unlocked by vibrations and then send the drum after weighing. In this way, workmen quantity is reduced and better coating quality can be achieved. In 2018, we developed our first robots, which we called as lateral robots, so that we could establish fully automatic plating plants in factories without adequate space.

Can you give information about Euro Istanbul’s environmental policy and sustainability approach? What kind of works and studies are performed in the area of worker health and safety?

The health and safety of our employees is the most important think for us. In this respect, we fulfill all necessary local and international obligations in accordance with our responsibilities. As we gain sustainable and stable earnings, we respect health of our employees, our community and our consumers. We operate as an environmentally friendly company while we fulfill our corporate social responsibility obligations. We are aware of our responsibility towards the environment. In plant ventilation systems, we design our gas scrubber towers to clean the gases emitted into the atmosphere environment above the levels stipulated by international standards and we fulfill all our responsibilities to leave a livable world to our children.

What are the priority criteria of Euro Istanbul when creating investment plans? Does Euro Istanbul have any investment plans in near and far future?

Production time of a plant varies according to the size of it and average takes 2-3 months. Therefore, when we make two plants at the same time in a three-month period, we have work load and vacancy when we do not produce the plant. Because we are dependent on the investment plans of the customers, it is not possible to make a medium term plan. Therefore, while we are creating our investment plans, we are making breakthroughs that will increase our production capacity by considering the global conjuncture. In 2017, we doubled our production area and machine park. We have a number of projects for series production in 2019. We are planning to fill our resudual time from plant production.
