JUMO , which was founded in Germany in 1948, has been operating in Turkey since 2008. In the interview we held, JUMO Turkey General Manager Mr. Mustafa Yılmazer gave information about JUMO’s wide range of products.
Could you please briefly tell us about your educational and professional background?
I graduated from the ITU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1993. Even before PLCs and servo motors were used, I was interested in methods of automation with mechanical techniques. Even though it was in its final stage, I decided to leave my master’s program in robotics and have stepped into my business carrier. Between 1995 and 2000, I worked as a technical consultant at Festo.
Between 2000 and 2008, I worked at Altınay Robotics as a manager in the sales, business development, and marketing departments, separately. JUMO, which had carried out its activities in Turkey through its dealers until 2008, decided to establish a company in Turkey and we set out on a journey together. Since then, I’ve been continuing to work as the General Manager of JUMO Turkey.
Could you please give information about JUMO’s history and milestones? What’s the current structure of JUMO today?
JUMO is a family-owned company that started its operations in Germany in 1948. Although in Turkey, the concept of family business may seem a bit negative in terms of institutionalism, in Germany, it is actually emphasized only in terms of showing the independence of the capital structure.
JUMO’s first products were often mercury-filled glass thermometers. At that time, with the same thermometers, temperature control was done with metal parts attached to glass thermometers that conduct electricity by contacting mercury. Later, with the developments in electronics, JUMO progressed to electronic thermostats, PID controllers, multi-channel controllers (mini DCS systems), recording devices, mechanical or electronic thermostats for safety.

In addition to these, the measured parameters have expanded and several products
added to the company’s portfolio such as; electrical temperature measurement equipment such as Pt100 and thermocouple, pressure transmitters, level measurement sensors,
flowmeters, CO2 and humidity sensors, analytical measurement equipment with which pH, ORP, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and disinfectants such as chlorine, ozone peracetic
acid measured.
While JUMO delivers its products to users in many countries with its own company, in some countries provides its products through its dealers. JUMO Turkey has been operating
since 2008. In-house sales engineers undergo intensive and continuous training and gain knowledge about products and applications.
In this way, we strive to improve the quality of the advice and support we provide. In addition, with our technical service department and technical support departments, we provide support for the commissioning and use of products.
To which industries and with what kind of products does JUMO mainly serve? Could you please give information about JUMO’s products, brands and services, especially in the field of coatings & surface technologies?
JUMO supplies products used in all areas of production. We provide measurement and control equipment for both the automatic operation of the machines and the operation of the processes with the correct parameters.
We can say that there is almost no production processes we are not involved. We provide all measurement and automation equipment in the cleaning and preparation processes, which can be defined as the conditioning of surfaces before the processes in the paint, coating and surface treatment industries, and in the drying processes after. We continuously measure and record the pH, ORP, conductivity, liquid level, pressure and temperature information measured in the treated baths and collect them at a central point.
If there is a parameter that exceeds a certain threshold value, we inform the users by giving an alarm. Likewise, we provide the measurement and control equipment required for the automation of drying ovens and provide programming services if requested.
