The specialty chemicals company ranked first in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Europe for the "Chemicals" category with an overall score of 85 out of 100, further demonstrating LANXESS' commitment to sustainability. As in the previous year, LANXESS finished second in the DJSI World. The Group performed particularly well in the areas of water stewardship, human rights, and product stewardship. “Sustainable, integrative thinking and acting supports our corporate goals and is therefore anchored at all levels of the Group,” commented Hubert Fink, member of the Board of Management of LANXESS AG. “We consider the renewed very good ranking in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index to be both a confirmation and encouragement of our commitment.” Companies are evaluated for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes based on their performance in the areas of corporate governance, social responsibility, and the environment. The top 10% of evaluated global companies in each industry are listed by DJSI World, while the top 20% of organizations with European headquarters are listed by DJSI Europe. Numerous organizations have recognized LANXESS’ effective commitment to climate protection, most recently the renowned Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The Group's emission reduction goals have been validated by the joint effort of the climate protection group CDP, the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute, and the World Wide Fund for Nature, which has also confirmed that LANXESS is helping to keep global warming to a maximum of 1.5 degrees Celsius. This value is the target set by the Paris Agreement and is usually considered the threshold for preventing a climate catastrophe. To this end, SBTi analyzed plans for lowering direct emissions in production (Scope 1), energy sources (Scope 2) and the upstream and downstream value chain (Scope 3). Three years ago, LANXESS had set itself the goal of becoming climate-neutral in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2040. In 2022, LANXESS extended its target to climate neutrality for Scope 3 emissions. The specialty chemicals company hopes to accomplish this by utilizing "green" logistics, sustainable raw materials, and a product portfolio.   Source
