Collagen is the main structural
protein in the extracellular matrix found in various connective tissues of the body. It consists of amino acids linked together to form the triple helix of the elongated fibril known as the collagen helix.
With age, the ability to regenerate collagen naturally declines by about 1.0% - 1.5% per year, with collagen levels starting to decline rapidly over the age of 50. Collagen structure becomes more fragile. It causes the weakening of the hair and hair follicles.
