Roche and ADYSK (the Princes’ Islands Association for Life with Sea and Sports Club) Launch an Important Project for Marmara Sea
Within the scope of the project “Let the Seas full of Life” launched by Roche Pharmaceuticals Turkey and the Princes’ Islands Association for Life with Sea and Sports Club (ADYSK) in order to leave Marmara Sea that is protected with all it is hidden riches to future generations, Turkey’s first coral transplantation is taking place. Launched to protect the biodiversity in the Marmara Sea, the project features to be the first coral transplantation operation of Turkey. The project, whose scientific pillar is being supported by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), is carried out with the voluntary cooperation of Istanbul University and ADYSK. Under the project, the corals of Princes’ Islands that are in danger of extinction were transported to the offshore of Neandros Island, also known as Tavşan Island, via the reproduction method with a 90 percent success rate. The project “Let the Seas full of Live” has also taken an important step towards clearing the ghost nets creating threat for marine wildlife.
