2018 IKMIB Stars of Exports Award Ceremony Held

Having played a significant part in the setting of a record in exports for the history of the Republic with a volume of 168.1 billion Dollars last year, the chemical sector realized exports amounting to 17.4 billion Dollars in the year 2018. IKMIB (Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association) rewarded the top exporters among the representatives of the sector for their achievements in the year 2018. Held for the fourth time this year at Raffles Istanbul Zorlu Center, 2018 IKMIB Stars of Exports Award Ceremony awarded a total number of 84 winners in 28 categories in a variety of sub-sectors and product groups in chemistry. Chairman of Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM), Ismail Gülle, said: “This year, we are more excited than ever for IKMIB Stars of Exports Award Ceremony. We achieved the highest figure in monthly exports in the history of the Republic with 16.3 billion Dollars in March. The first quarter of the year witnessed an increase of 3.34 per cent in exports when compared to the same period last year and the achievement of 44.5 billion Dollars in volume. Our chemicals industry contributed greatly to this achievement. We have instilled hope for the future with exports having already reached approximately 5 billion Dollars in volume in the chemicals industry.

I sincerely believe that this achievement will allow us to reach the 2019 target of 20 billion Dollars as designated for chemistry. The new reforms to be implemented in economy and trade during the next 4.5 election-free years will also expect vision, common wisdom, and projects from Turkish exporters. TIM has its doors wide open for all exporters. We will continue our work to do better for the future of Turkey with the support of our exporters. I wholeheartedly congratulate all companies that have received awards and become heroes for exports here today.” Delivering the opening speech for the ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (IKMIB), Adil Pelister, stated: “We actually create a significant added value for our country by touching various fields from automotive to furniture and from textiles to food with our raw materials. Last year, we broke a record in the history of the Republic of Turkey with a total volume of 168.1 billion Dollars owing to the determination of our economic management and our eternal faith in this beautiful country. And most importantly, we have achieved this success altogether by acting almost like a single body. As the chemical industry, we played a significant part in this historical achievement. The chemical industry finished the year 2018 with an increase of 8.23 per cent leading to a volume in exports of 17.4 billion Dollars.”
